Welcome at the airport, transfer and hotel accommodation. During these two days we will take a tour of the historic and colonial center, in which we will visit emblematic places such as San Martín Square, Jirón de la Unión, the Torre Tagle Palace and the Aliaga house; followed by the churches of La Merced, San Pedro, and San Francisco. Thean, we will end our tour in the Plaza de Armas to find the Cathedral of Lima and the Government Palace. During these days we will also visit Miraflores and Barranco, to spend some time facing the Pacific. In addition, we will have a few stops to enjoy some highlights of Peruvian gastronomy.
We will fly to Cusco, the political and religious capital of the Inca empire, which has retained its greatness over the years. We will have time to get familiar with the city center, the cobbled streets around, and the most outstanding tourist spots, such as the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedra, both built over the Viracocha palace, the Stone of the 12 Angles and the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha), that will transport us to another time. We’ll arrive by foot to the San Pedro Market to get to know local life at its core. Besides, Sacsayhuaman, a megalithic stone fortress; and the religious temples of Qenqo and Tambomachay, will be part of our tour during one of these days.
These days are destined to explore the magic and energy of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We’ll start by visiting the two inca ruins fortresses that protected both entrances to the valley: Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Having visited the latter, we’ll jump on the train to head to Aguas Calientes, the village at the foot of Machu Picchu, where you’ll spend the night. The morning after, the most awaited visit will take place: the citadel of Machu Picchu, or the Huayna Picchu mountain. The following day, our route includes a visit to the salt mines of Maras, and the terraces of Moray. Later, the town of Chincheros will show us its beauty and we’ll have the chance to learn the process from natural wool weavers. Back in Cusco you will have a whole free day to wander around the city at your own pace.
We take a flight to Lima, and after arriving one driver will wait for us to continue down the road in the direction to Huaraz. We will make a stop in the town of Barranca before starting the ascent towards the mountains.
Huaraz will serve as the starting point towards our adventure. During these days, we will get to know about the city, and cities nearby, such as Carhuaz and Yungay. Here you’ll be amazed by the staggering beauty of the mountains that protect the valley. In addition to the cities around, we’ll have trek adventures to discover the Wilcacocha (3,700 masl), Churup (4,480 masl), Auquiscocha (4,600 masl) and finally, the 69 (4,600 masl) lagoons.
This adventure will start when entering the Huascarán National Park. Soon after, we will visit the Llanganuco lagoon, whose vibrant turquoise color and its privileged view of the Huascaran and Huandoy snow-capped mountains leaves everyone speechless. Then, a first ascent to the mountain refuge to spend the night takes place. The morning after, before dawn, we hike to the Pisco peak, a spectacular glacier to appreciate from the top the most impressive view of the Cordilleras. Having reached the summit and feel on top of the world, we’ll start the descent until we reach the refuge to rest. And then, we’ll head back to Huaraz.
The return takes place at night by bus in 160° bed-seats. But, before heading back to Lima, you will have the whole day to enjoy Huaraz and/or to take complementary activities. Once in Lima, you’ll have your logistics arranged to get you to the airport.
