What makes VIVA ANDINA | Travel Artisans different from other Peru travel agencies?

We are a locally owned travel boutique for personalized travel to Peru and a certified, licensed tour operator. We offer curated itineraries and personalized service for visitors seeking premium travel in Peru. Our aim is to stay away from mass tourism as much as possible to enable genuine cultural connection.

As our brand highlights, we are travel artisans. Drawing on deep local expertise, we create our own premium experiences in Peru for travelers who value authenticity, comfort, and personalization.

Are our signature trips to Peru private or in small groups?

Whether you are looking for premium personalized trips to Peru or prefer traveling with a small group, we specialize in both. Our group shared departures are our two all-inclusive Signature Trips to Peru (12 and 16 days), each limited to just 10 travelers. All other journeys are arranged as a private tour in Peru, either by adapting one of our signature itineraries or designing a completely bespoke one. Every personalized trip to Peru we design can include exclusive guides, flexible schedules, and it reflects a high level of personalization and attention to detail, whether for a couple, a group of friends, a family, or even a solo traveler.

Do I need a visa to travel to Peru?

In most cases, the answer is no — a visa is not required to travel to Peru as a foreign visitor. Entry is granted on arrival at the immigration point.

That said, this visa rule isn’t universal. However, entry requirements can change, so, as with any other country, it is important to check official immigration sources in advance or ask your local travel agency when planning  your trip to Peru.

Is Peru worth visiting?

Absolutely. Peru is one of the most geographically and culturally diverse countries in the world. This diversity makes Peru a destination that speaks to a wide range of travel styles.

But also traveling around Peru is about getting in touch with a country that is warm, welcoming, and essentially happy.

All of that to say that Peru offers many possibilities and it is capable of rewarding different travelers and tastes for entirely different reasons.  A trip to Peru can be designed based on your interests and taste. Main idea: Peru is not a single-itinerary country.

How many days should I spend in Peru?

The ideal duration for a trip to Peru ultimately depends on your personal preferences, the time you have available, and your specific interests.

For a well-rounded experience in Peru, we recommend allowing at least 11 to 15 days for a first trip to Peru. This timeframe provides enough time to explore Peru’s most iconic destinations while still leaving room for spontaneous moments along the way.

If you want to make the most of your time, make sure to get assistance from a registered local agency who provides some group or personalized trips in Peru, such as ours. We’ll be happy to pull together the best possible tour in Peru that suits you.

How far in advance should I book my trip to Peru?

For your first time in Peru, you should think of booking at least 3 months ahead if visiting Machu Picchu is one of your main goals — entry tickets to Machu Picchu have limited daily capacity and are sold out quickly, especially in peak season. If perhaps you’re planning to do the Inca Trail trek, you should at least book 4 to 5 months ahead for that, as permits have a strict daily capacity, making this the one deadline you really can’t push past.

Bottom line: advance booking matters most for two things — Machu Picchu entry tickets and Inca Trail permits, both capped and both worth locking in early. Getting help from a reliable local travel agency in Peru also goes a long way toward having a great experience in Peru without having to deal with the logistics. Let us assist you with your trip to Peru.
